Providence is the most populated city in Rhode Island. One of the oldest American cities and the state capital, it was name by Roger Williams in 1636 as a means of honoring ‘God’s Merciful Providence’. Today it is a large city and was name as the Creative Capital in the year 2009 as a way to enhance the educational resources and arts community.
